Let's face it: even the best recipe, with the wrong seasoning, can miss the mark. That's why it is important to know the different types of salt, which ones to use in cooking and the difference between table salt and sea salt.
Not all salts are created equal
Table salt is made of sodium chloride. Often, an anti-caking agent is added to prevent it from lumping due to moisture. In Canada, table salt is fortified with iodine and sugar is often added.
Sea salt, on the other hand, is simply the result of the evaporation of sea water - without the addition of iodine. This process retains some of the other trace minerals, making it a more complete and natural salt.
Herbamare: a healthy and tasty choice!
It's easy to see why Herbamare is a healthy option: it's made with ⅓ less salt than regular table salt.
A dozen of organic herbs and vegetables are added: parsley, chives, basil, marjoram, rosemary, thyme, celery, leek, garlic, lovage, watercress and onion. Herbamare is Organic Canada certified, is Non GMO Project verified and is free of MSG, gluten, lactose, additives or preservatives. Kelp (a seaweed) is added to the blend to provide naturally occurring iodine.
Herbamare also has the added benefit of enhancing the flavor of foods, so it is often used in smaller quantities than table salt.
Finally, in case you didn't know, there are several Herbamare seasoned salts to choose from, including Original, Spicy and Sodium Free!
