All about TVP
Textured vegetable protein (TVP) is nutritious, versatile, quick to prepare, affordable, and shelf-stable, making it an easy way to add more plant-based variety to your meals. This food has it all!
What makes Textured Plant Protein different?
What is it?
TVP is made from soybeans or peas. After extracting the oil from either, the remaining protein is ground into flour, dehydrated, and shaped into flakes or granules that are ready to cook.
How to use it
With its neutral taste, dry TVP can be used to add texture to a variety of sweet or savoury dishes, from energy balls to salads. When rehydrated, it can partially or fully replace ground meat in recipes like chili, spaghetti or burgers.
Nutritional benefits
TVP is high in protein, with more fibre and less saturated fat than beef.
