ORGANIC AGRICULTURE
Farmers in the Pinoso Valley had to show inventiveness and innovation in order to develop organic cultivation of almond trees in the arid climate of southern Spain. The original method consists in grafting the almond trees on woody plants, mainly prunus, which make it easy to distinguish bitter almonds from sweet ones. The result is Ecocert Canada certified almonds, meaning that no synthetic chemicals such as GMOs and pesticides have been used.

WATER-SMART
Spanish almond trees are watered less intensively than traditional crops thanks to natural irrigation, having no environmental footprint. By doing so, the source of water from the rains contributes in a water-smart and healthy way to the orchards of the region.
