In France, under the regime of François 1er, yogurt made a first and fleeting appearance. In 1542, the King fell ill. His team of personal doctors could do nothing for him. So the King brought from Constantinople to Paris a Jewish pastor and his flock of dairy sheep. This pastor prepared the milk for his sheep in a certain way. Thanks to this fermented milk prepared in the oriental fashion, the King is cured. Since that time in France, and all over the world, people are consuming more and more sheep yogurt. Moreover, the word "Yogurt" means "long life" in several languages.
