Formerly known as the Barbabietola Bassano, this unique beet became the Barbabietola Chioggia beet or Chioggia, an Italian town south of Venice. It is said that the original Bassano, introduced in 1841, was flatter at the top and his skin sported a red less pronounced. This seed heritage has been enhanced by the seed Alf Christianson Seed Company of the State of Washington to accentuate its unique features. Indeed, the beet produced a beautiful purple red root that is spectacular when cut in two because it has purple and white rings alternately. Thanks to a particularly sweet taste, it makes raw fury or briefly steamed. The leaves are short and attractive. 60-65 days.
