Tithonia's bright orange flowers attract many butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden. Like most Asteraceae, Tithonia is a very easy-to-grow plant that offers a very long flowering throughout the summer. The plant thrives in poor, light and dry soil. Thanks to their very good vase life, the flowers are popular in floral arrangements.

  • This plant native to Mexico and Central America likes the sun and heat and does not resist frost. It tolerates poor, dry soils with ease and requires good drainage. In soils that are too rich, Tithonia produces weak stems that need staking and too much foliage. Pruning faded flowers prolongs the flowering period.
