The Saint-Guilhem IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) territory is located in the Hérault region, 30 km north of Montpellier, France. The grape varieties planted on terraces are mainly Cinsault, Grenache, Carignan and Syrah, producing highly aromatic wines with notes of spice and cooked fruit.
Colombard is one of the world's great blending grape varieties, most famously used alongside Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche in the production of Cognac and Armagnac. It is known for its neutrality, and has been used to produce light, refreshing white wines in the southwest of France and in New World regions such as California and South Africa. In Grenache Blanc, the aromas are bursting with notes of green fruits and citrus, including Asian pear, green apple, young mango, lime zest and white peach. Other flavors include subtle sweet floral notes of honeysuckle and fenugreek (or almost cumin seed) with baked apple, as well as brioche and lemon curd if the wine has been aged in oak. -
