This is the most common cep in Quebec. This specimen can grow up to 30 cm tall, with a 6 to 20 cm cap that is smooth or slimy and yellowish-brown to reddish-brown in color. Its foot is solid, with a network of whitish lines. It is found particularly under fir trees and in spruce plantations. Fresh boletus is generally clean enough that all you need to do is clean it and cut off the base before cooking!
